Duties and responsibilities :
Tofollow up affiliates activities and programmes and make recommendations to the OATUUSecretariat for follow up,
Tobe abreast and analyze socio-economic development globally and within thecontinent as it impacts on workers and advice the Secretariat,
Toarticulate and develop draft statements, declaration and position papers onthematic issues as may be directed by the Secretariat forits consideration and approval,
Toassist in preparation of constitutional meetings of the Organization andprogrammes as they affect the International Relations and Organization Department,
Toprepare and submit reports to Management on activities and programmes of the Internationaland Organisation Department for submission to the organs of OATUU,
Tobe involved in research / surveys on socio-economic issues and follow up with theprogrammes and activities of the African Union (AU) in consultation with the OATUUSecretariat through the Supervising Head of the International Relations andOrganization Department,
Todesign, manage, and undertake research projects to investigate social issues,such as employment, unemployment, gender, health, education, and social policy,
Toassist in determining OATUU’s research / social agendas and develop policyrecommendations,
Toestablish database on socio-economic issues of the African region,
Toprepare and submit narrative reports to the OATUU Management and Cooperating Partner Organizations,
Toperform any other duties as may be assigned by the OATUU Management.
A minimum of first degree in any of the Social Sciences, including Economics, Political Science and International Relations,
At least three years of extensive training in social science research methods,
Knowledge in the areas of the labour market, trade unionism, gender, SDGs, the ILO and AU,
Knowledge and skills on data and information gathering, analysis, interpretation and presentation,
Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills,
Strong computer literacy skills,
Good communication and networking skills,
Team commitment and gender sensitive,
Fluency in English and French languages. Arabic and Portuguese will be an added advantage.
